From downloaded MP4 to a post draft
Save and inspect the video
Download the finished MP4 from Studio or My videos. Play it through and check the face, framing and existing audio before opening TikTok or Reels.
Import the original file
Start a post or Reel and choose the downloaded MP4. Use the original download instead of a screen recording or a copy saved from another social app.
Choose an available sound
Use the platform's sound picker and choose a track available to your account and intended use. Availability can vary by region, account type and whether the post is commercial.
Balance and align the audio
Listen to both the original clip and added track. Lower or mute the clip audio if they clash, then trim the chosen sound to the moment you want.
Review the draft
Check the crop, captions, cover frame and relevant AI disclosure settings. Watch the saved draft once more before publishing.
Check these details in the draft
| Detail | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Framing | Keep faces and important gestures visible in the vertical crop. Check that app controls and captions do not cover them. |
| Timing | Align a visual moment with a beat if useful. Adding music does not create accurate lip sync to the lyrics. |
| Volume | Avoid two overlapping soundtracks. Listen at a normal volume, including the beginning and end. |
| File quality | Keep the original MP4 and avoid repeated exports. A higher-resolution re-export cannot restore detail missing from the generated file. |
If the sound is missing or unavailable
Check the original MP4 before assuming the upload failed. A silent generation needs a soundtrack added separately. If TikTok or Reels does not offer your chosen song, use another track available for your account or audio you have permission to use.
A track's availability in one app does not automatically cover a downloaded version reposted elsewhere, advertising or business use. Check the destination platform's current music terms for your intended post.
Keep an editable copy
Save the original MP4 separately from the social post. It lets you make a new draft, change the soundtrack or adjust captions without downloading an already compressed version from a feed. Review the destination app's current AI labeling requirements for realistic generated people.
FAQ
Will the mouth movements match the song?
Adding a sound to the finished clip does not synchronize the generated mouth movements to its lyrics. Review the result before describing it as lip synced.
Can I use the same sound on every platform?
Check each platform and intended use separately. Music availability and permissions can differ between accounts, regions, personal posts and commercial content.
